Home Automation hits mainstream
It’s been over a year now since Google acquired Nest for $3.2B and set in motion a massive influx of venture capital into IoT startups and corporates establishing IoT divisions. The race was ‘officially’ on for winning the home. We have highlighted before how home sale and rental listings featuring smart home capabilities is the new norm. In addition Google is running ads to get consumers comfortable with the idea and benefits of a connected world.
This weekend’s edition of Saturday Night Live with Michael Keaton featured the Smart House. (Beware of the eyes). While this spoof might have gone over the top, it does highlight that Home Automation has reached mainstream and the mass audience. Now more and more use case will be realized as the connected home is accepted. This is great new for software developers, consumers are waiting for your apps.
